Sri lankan sketches

In 2013/ 2014 I  spent several months in Sri Lanka teaching at a rural school near Kosgoda, where I fell in love with the country and its welcoming people.  In 2018, I returned for six glorious weeks, bringing along my new husband Matt. We spent our honeymoon travelling across the country via buses, trains and tuk-tuk ( surely the best way to travel), visiting my old friends, favourite places and discovering new ones together. Everywhere we went, my sketchbook was close at hand. Below are some of the sketches and concept art ideas for an elephant ballet dancing school, where the protagonist Ella, wreaks havoc with her well-meaning clumsiness and talent for getting into scrapes.
