Ceramic birds made out of air drying clay
Using a series of bird templates I can quickly create several bird shapes at a time. The most time consuming part is smoothing down the edges. Each bird has a unique design I create using dowel and other modelling tools. For ideas I look at traditional Folk art and although the birds work well in plain white I have begun to experiment with colour.
In the future I hope to be able to use a kiln to fire the birds made out of traditional modelling clay, but at the moment I'm using air drying clay, which is quite delicate.
